  • Registrar Position at Axis Alpine - Axis Sports Medicine Specialists is exploring the possibility of establishing a training post at our clinic in Queenstown – the adventure capital of the world. This post would best suit a registrar in their third or fourth year of training. We are looking for expressions of interest for the 2020 training year and beyond. Axis is an established training clinic with a large team of nine fellows, six registrars, locum doctors and clinical exercise physiologists, based largely out of our two Auckland practices.  The Queenstown practice is based in an Alpine area with ready access to snow sports and adventure tourism, providing a unique training opportunity with exposure to a wide range of both patients and sports. Our registrar training includes weekly teaching sessions with the whole clinical team, with virtual sessions enabling those at different clinics to attend. Opportunities exist for trips to Auckland to attend teaching and to work along-side Axis colleagues within different multidisciplinary environments, including our sports concussion clinic and exercise medicine clinic for patients suffering from chronic disease.

Our referral-based practice is largely subsidised by our national insurer (the Accident Compensation Corporation), meaning all our doctors are kept busy seeing a diverse range of patients. The clinic is based within a physiotherapy practice with access to other allied health professionals. We also host visiting orthopaedic surgeons from other regions. The clinic is located adjacent to a radiology practice with access to hi-tech imaging.

Axis has close association with several sporting organisations with plenty of opportunities for team and event coverage. If you would like to learn more about this training opportunity, please email k.archibald@axissportsmedicine.co.nz ASAP.
