ACSEP advanced MOST Course

The ACSEP Advanced Course in the Management of Sporting Trauma (MOST) teaches medical professionals the core skills required to appropriately assess and manage traumatic sporting injuries. The ACSEP MOST Course is delivered over two full days of training.

The ACSEP Advanced MOST Course aims to guide attendees through the assessment and management skills that are essential in managing sporting injuries, both on and off the field.  The course addresses common emergencies that might confront a sports physician, covers the rationale behind treatment choices and the adaption of medical management at sporting events and out in the field.

The ACSEP Advanced MOST Course is specifically designed for healthcare professionals, such as:

  • ACSEP Registrars*
  • ACSEP Fellows*
  • Doctors/GPs/Physicians/Surgeons
  • Physiotherapists & Other Health Professionals
  • Medical Students
  • * ACSEP Registrars and Fellows must complete a Trauma Course every 3 years

 

Course content:

The Advanced course covers the key learning points for safe emergency management of medical collapse, acute management of asthma and common medical problems, environmental impact, and trauma management and resuscitation.  The ACSEP MOST Course covers CPR/BLS and ALS Resuscitation as well as the assessment and management of:

  • Airway obstruction
  • The unresponsive patient
  • Collapsed endurance athlete
  • Cardiac arrest and emergencies
  • Acute exacerbations of asthma
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Seizure
  • Hyperthermia and hypothermia
  • Head and neck injury
  • Injuries to the face/teeth/eyes
  • Injuries to the chest
  • Intra-abdominal injuries
  • Significant extremity trauma
  • Drowning
  • Electrical injuries

  • 2 to 3 specialised course instructors
  • Detailed course training manual
  • Theory sessions and hands-on practice working in small groups
  • Short questions/quizzes
  • Morning-tea, lunch & afternoon tea provided
  • Completion certificate

  • AU$1,290 for ACSEP Members (GST not applicable)
