The ACSEP is obligated to ensure that all training practices are accredited. Accreditation indicates a satisfactory standard of facilities, supervision, support the Registrar and work practices. Accreditation Regulation
In Australia, all providers of specialist medical education must be accredited by the Australian Medical Council (AMC). In New Zealand the process of accreditation is managed by the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ). In 2008 and 2011, the AMC evaluated the education, training and professional development programs of ACSEP and granted accreditation of those programs until 31 December 2014, subject to satisfactory annual reports to the Specialist Education Accreditation Committee. In 2007 the College’s training, accreditation and MOPS processes were reviewed by the MCNZ and accredited for six years. During 2012, the fifth year of the re-accreditation period, the College was required to submit an annual report to the MCNZ addressing additional New Zealand-specific information. The College was re accredited in 2014 through to 2019.
