DR SIOBHAN STATUTA

Dr. Siobhan Statuta is a Sports Medicine Primary Care specialist and has been part of the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine since 2007.  A graduate from Cornell University with a degree in Biology, she worked as a medical assistant and surgical technologist for an orthopedic practice that specializes in sports injuries.  This experience spurred her to pursue a formal medical education.  She completed her primary care focused medical training with a sports medicine fellowship in 2011. After joining the faculty at UVA, she created a practice which focuses mainly on sports medicine split between providing primary care to the Division 1 collegiate athletes as one of the two team physicians and community athletes at The Runner’s Clinic.  In addition, she serves as the director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship and teaches residents and medical students on a daily basis. Beyond the university setting, she serves as one of the team physicians for the Under-20’s US Soccer Women’s National Team. Her professional interests include the care of runners, female athletes, and mental health considerations in sports.
