About me:

I am a current ACSEP Registrar at OPSMC, and I am working across AFL and cricket. I started my medical journey knowing that I wanted to become a Sports Doctor. I formed the Sports and Exercise Medicine Students Association when I was a medical student with a group of likeminded students. From this I quickly realised at the time that the visibility of Women in Sports Medicine was considerably less than our male colleagues. Our speakers for most of the events were male and it wasn’t as easy to seek female mentorship at the time. However once I became a registrar I was exposed to the Women in SEM Committee at the ACSEP conference and knew that being involved and increasing the visibility of Women in SEM was something I wanted to do as part of my SEM career.

I have been fortunate to be able to work with a range of sporting teams that have allowed me to focus on mentorship in the work place. I have enjoyed mentoring residents and medical students in the sporting sphere. I am also thrilled to see the changing landscape of sports where we are seeing more female representation across medical teams, support staff and athletes.
